Small businesses are dialing back spending and adjusting their expectations after a volatile start to 2025.
According to a Bank of America Corp. analysis of anonymized spending card data, small-business credit card spending was down 2.1% in February over the same month last year. The extra day in February 2024 because of the leap year accounts for some of the drop, but cutbacks seen in travel and hardware purchases specifically could signal slowing demand, Bank of America said in its report.
